After watching Alaska club teams do well to a certain point but fail to offer elite development opportunities to their very best players, AKFC was created in 2008 by the directors of Coerver® Coaching AK. The mission of AKFC is to offer an additional competitive outlet for the premier Alaskan player, by providing innovative, advanced training opportunities in a professional atmosphere and by promoting tournament match play in the most challenging environments, both on a national and international stage.

Stressing our core belief in the growth of the individual player, AKFC training curriculum includes the highest possible level of technical development and an increased emphasis on the tactical application of those enhanced skills. Through match play versus the most talented teams in the nation, AKFC players can expect to be tested both mentally and physically each time they step onto the pitch. More importantly, they’ll have been given the tools to succeed in such an environment.

A member of US Club Soccer, AKFC operates under the umbrella of Matanuska Soccer Club (link:www.matanuskasoccerclub.org) and Coerver® Coaching NW (link:www.coervercoachingnw.com) but accepts and encourages cooperation between all of Alaska’s premier soccer clubs.

AKFC players are identified through one of several ways: through their participation in a Coerver® Coaching AK Academy, Advanced Team Clinic, Center of Excellence or COE-Elite; through recommendations from their team coaches or club leadership; or by trialing at one of several annual AKFC training camps. Our teams are intended to further develop and showcase the talents of the state’s best young soccer players by placing them in an environment of consistent competition, where the highest standards of commitment and performance are expected, and all team selections are made with this as the primary criteria.
